Since their move to the picturesque village of Furnage, Simon and Kerry’s idyllic new surroundings have so far proved to be the perfect setting for the happy couple to call home. However, as their new life begins to take shape, the hidden past of a friend amongst the locals begins to entwine itself around them, suffocating them with disastrous consequences.
As this story of obsession, lust and delusion slowly unfolds, the residents of Furnage are brought to a shocking halt leaving the village in tatters. Simon and Kerry’s nightmare is one that they will never wake up from and one that could happen to any one of us.

So that’s it…

I have just finished the final proofread. It is time to step away from the finished article that I have sculpted out of nothing.

So the next step is to transform my work into an e book which will be done over the next few days leaving me with an e version of my novel to be released to the world. Nerve wrecking or what!!??
There comes a time when a writer must step away before they can move onto their next creation. I’ve enjoyed this process immensely and it’s almost time to pass my enjoyment on to others to embrace.
A Hole in Serenity will be released next weekend but before then, keep your eyes peeled for the synopsis which I will send out this weekend. Exciting times ahead!
As always a big thank you to each and every one of you. You have made this process so enjoyable and so rewarding. I could not have done this without you. Please continue to support me and continue to spread the word if you can.
Watch this space… It’s almost time…
Take care,
Mark

Lessons learned…

The idea for this post came from one of my faithful followers who suggested that I write about the lessons learned from book one. What would I not do again the second time around?

One of the very important, if not the most important things a writer must do, is read. Reading more is definitely up there at the top of my list of things to do going forward. Reading not only gives a writer new ideas but also gives helpful tips on sentence structure, plots and character profiling.
Secondly, I am going to try my hardest to not be as obsessed with word count as I have been over the last year. If I can try to eradicate that from my mind, I will hopefully not be trying to force words or even shorten chapters etc. I have heard that this is quite common amongst writers so I know others share in this random obsession.
Lastly, I am going to try and pencil in set writing hours. This past year has been about grabbing an hour or two here and there so I would like to find my most productive time of the day and stick to it as best I can.
Thank you as always to each of you for your kind words over the past week, month and year. You have made a real difference to this process. I can’t thank you enough!
Take care and don’t forget to keep an eye out for the release of my synopsis next weekend! I am hoping to launch ‘A Hole in Serenity’ the weekend after (26th March)!! Eeeekkk!

What am I expecting to achieve…?

The answer to the above is, I’ve already achieved it!

Hey come on, let’s be honest, every writer on this planet dreams of producing a ‘New York Times Bestseller’. For me it’s more about the accomplishment. I didn’t start writing to become famous and I certainly didn’t start writing to become rich! I started writing to tick another notch off my bucket list. I’ve written a novel and if that’s the only thing that comes of this adventure then I’m happy.
What I didn’t expect to happen was for me to become totally hooked. To have this something that draws me in completely that’s addictive, exciting and an adventure makes me feel privelaged to have found it. I now relish ‘the blank page’ and I find words come easily to me which is half the battle.
The idea for my second book has left me itching to get started again! I haven’t looked at my current manuscript or picked up a pen in 2 weeks and I miss it. A lot. That’s how I know I’ve been bitten by this bug.
So at the very least, I’ve started and finished a novel. That isn’t to say I’m not secretly hoping I get at least a few good reviews!
Take care and as always thank you to my most recent followers for joining me on this amazing journey. Don’t forget to look out for the blurb to ‘A Hole in Serenity’ on March 19th!
Take care,
Mark
