Good morning my faithful! I hope you are all safe and well! As a born and bread southerner now living in Manchester, the past weeks have been terrifying, unthinkable and humbling, all rolled into one. As a writer, writing sometimes about not so nice things fictitiously, I believe it’s my place to use words to express how I feel and to honour those affected by these terrible events.
From North to South is a very short poem that I wrote in a few minutes this morning. Love to all…
From North to South
From North to South our world’s collide
These acts from which we cannot hide
Our thoughts and prayers with those in need
And all those ruined by this senseless deed
As time goes on our hearts will heal
Yet nothing makes this mess seem real
Signs of hope and signs of love
Will help us all to rise above
We are proud, we are loud to fight this pain
The memories of our past remain
Each day, each night that we look back
We’ll all hold hands and stay on track
From North to South we are now one
To fight against what they have done
Our angels will look down on all
To see us through these times of cruel
As we go on with heads held high
We’ll still shed tears no shame to cry
As you look down from every cloud
We are North, we are South, we’ll make you proud
Take care,
Mark
